September 9, 2001This 4km-resolution GOES-10 visible loop spans 1415Z-0200Z.During the previous night, the two vortices merged, with the smaller, stronger one (Gil) emerging victorious. At the beginning of this loop, Gil's intensity was 30kts (1008mb); by the end of the loop, Gil was no longer a Tropical Depression.
